Form Builder Guide

1. Getting Started

For most use cases, preset templates are sufficient and the easiest way to begin. However, if you feel something is missing, you can customize the format or create your own form.

👉 When using a preset template, always remove any unnecessary fields before submitting.

2. Key Concepts

Before building your form, it’s important to understand how data is organized.

a. Sections

Your form is made up of sections, and there are two types:

1. Data Group
  • A data group contains multiple fields (e.g., text, image, date).
  • All fields inside a data group are always displayed together in the web story.

👉 Example: A “Profile” section with name, photo, and description.

2. List of Data Groups
  • This is a repeating group of the same structure.
  • Useful when you need multiple similar entries.

👉 Example: Multiple events, products, or timeline items.

b. Predefined Sections

You can quickly add ready-made sections such as:

  • Event Data
  • Profile Data
  • Countdown Timer

You can also create a Custom (empty) section if needed.

c. Labels (Important)

Every section and field must have a label.

  • Labels are short identifiers without spaces (e.g., event_name, profile_image)
  • They should clearly describe the content

👉 Think of labels as internal names that define your structure. They won’t be shown on the website, but help the designer understand and organize your data correctly.

3. Field Types

You can add different types of fields inside a data group:

  • Short Text
  • Long Text
  • Image
  • Date
  • Timer

4. How to Build Your Form

Follow these steps:

  1. Start with a template (recommended), or create a custom form
  2. Add or remove sections based on your needs
  3. Add fields inside each data group
  4. Assign clear labels to sections and fields
  5. Reorder sections using drag-and-drop to define the story flow

5. Best Practices

  • ✅ Use clear and user-friendly names for fields (these may appear in your web story)
  • ✅ Use appropriate image ratios
    • Suggested: 1:1 (square) for profile images
  • ✅ Group related information together logically
  • ✅ Keep your form clean and minimal

6. Important Rules

  • ⚠️ Remove all unnecessary fields and sections before submitting
  • ⚠️ Once submitted, you cannot add or remove fields or sections
  • ⚠️ You can still update the data later

7. Design Tips

Avoid putting all fields into a single data group

→ This forces everything to appear together and can make the design cluttered

Instead, break content into multiple logical groups

→ This helps create a cleaner, more visually appealing story

Important Information

We don’t provide a fixed format for data submission. Instead, you can create your own form, giving you full control over how your data is structured and presented in the web story.

By structuring your data, you define how your story flows—for example, what content appears first, how sections are grouped, which pieces of information stay together, and how the narrative progresses from one screen to the next. This ensures your web story reflects your intended sequence and emphasis, rather than forcing your content into a predefined layout.

Because each web story is uniquely designed (instead of using a fixed template), we can’t automatically map arbitrary data into a preset design. That’s why the implementation phase begins only after you submit your form. The form serves as the foundation for both the structure and content of your story.

Once you submit the form, the structure is locked to maintain design consistency. However, you can update the data within that structure as many times as needed.

To make things easier, you can also choose from pre-built templates—so you don’t have to create a new form from scratch every time.
